One of my sweet friends asked me if I could make a cake for her daughters baptism. My answer was, I can certainly try!!
I have always wanted to make a layer cake but haven’t really tried, so this was a perfect opportunity!!
Sally’s Baking Addiction is pretty much my go to if I am looking for a new recipe to try. I absolutely love how much detail she gives and the step by step instructions are so helpful!
My friend wanted a small cake so I went with 6 inch cake pans. Sally has a post dedicated to 6 inch cake recipes so that’s where I started. I ended up using the vanilla cake mix and vanilla buttercream for a pretty white cake for a baptism.
There is definitely room for improvement on my decorating skills, I also think my butter was a bit too cold in my buttercream which made spreading it more difficult to spread onto the cake. Overall I am so pleased with my first attempt at this cake and I’m excited to try different flavors and decorating styles!
